Team sets goal to help Haiti

Being part of a team means working together toward a common goal. Sometimes that goal is crossing the finish line first, throwing the hardest, or jumping the farthest. But the Saint Mary’s University track and field team extended their typical team goals this summer to helping bring fresh water to a poor community in Haiti.

Eight members of the track and field team, head coach Niels Anderson, and four other members of the Saint Mary’s community recently returned from Haiti, where they took part in a mission trip through Healing Haiti.

As a summer intern with the Office of Naval Research at NASA Ames in Moffett Field, Calif., 2014 Saint Mary’s undergraduate psychology major Ellie Niedbala has been involved with helping astronauts and military personnel learn to deter motion sickness and stress. And, she’s working to both recruit and retain more women to NASA Ames.

Psy.D. program receives APA accreditation

Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota has been granted accreditation for its Psychology Doctorate (Psy.D.) in Counseling Psychology program from the Commission on Accreditation of the American Psychological Association. The effective accreditation date is Nov. 6, 2015 and extends for an initial period of five years.
