Mariana Sanchez ’10

Soccer coach, graphic designer, cancer victim advocate
Hometown: Puebla, Mexico
Major: Graphic Design

Mariana Sanchez was a team captain and all-conference soccer player, but more importantly she was a supporter of athletics and the university.

This desire and love for athletics continued as she was asked to be an assistant soccer coach at Western Illinois University, a Division I school, where she helped lead the team to the end of a successful season.

Sanchez also has a desire to advocate and care for children who are battling cancer. These desires led her to found the “Trains for a Cause Campaign.” This organization was established to bring happiness into the lives of children who have been diagnosed with cancer and to collect monetary donations for those in need and organizations that support these children.

In addition, she is a creative graphic designer and has used her talents in multiple ways to improve the lives of others. Sanchez was a senior publication artist for Wincraft, Inc. and media producer and curriculum developer for John Deere, Inc.

Sanchez has recently returned to Mexico to be near her family.
