The Saint Mary’s women’s basketball team and Coach Mandy Pearson compete in the NCAA Division III national tournament this weekend.
CAPTION: Faculty, staff and the Cardinal mascot gave the team a send-off Thursday.
The Cardinals are in Oshkosh, Wis., to face the host UW-Oshkosh Titans at 7 p.m. Friday in one of two regional semifinals. Washington (Mo.) University and Northwestern (Minn.) square off in the other semifinal, with the two winners meeting in Saturday’s regional final.
Saint Mary’s earned the NCAA tournament at-large bid by winning the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title and finishing with a 24-3 overall record. SMU’s loss to St. Thomas in the championship of the MIAC Tournament last Saturday meant that the Tommies earned the conference’s automatic NCAA berth.
