With more than 42,000 alumni, you might be surprised where, and how often, you’ll run into a Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota graduate. Many of them the university calls “alumni in action” — alumni who are living the Saint Mary’s mission of service and leadership, transforming others’ lives and making a positive difference in their communities and beyond.
One such alum is Luke Hofmann ’03 from St. Louis, Mo. While a student at Saint Mary’s, Hofmann majored in biology. It was his dream to work in the field of medicine. Upon his graduation, he earned a BSN from Maryville University, and during his clinicals he developed a love for working with children battling cancer.
“Every day at work I get to see the best parts of humanity,” he said. “Even in the saddest and darkest days, I get to see how love, hope, and courage always win. To be there for the kids and their families, through both the ups and downs of treatment is incredibly rewarding.”
Hofmann is living his dream as a pediatric hematology/oncology nurse at the St. Louis Children’s Hospital.
