WINONA, Minn. — The Saint Mary’s University women’s basketball team cracked one national Top 25 poll on Monday, and on Tuesday, the Cardinals narrowly missed climbing into another.

Just a day after being ranked No. 25 in the latest Top 25, the Cardinals — winners of 10 straight and owners of a 13-1 overall record — were the top team in the “others receiving votes” category in the latest USA TODAY Sports Division III Top 25 Coaches Poll.

The USA TODAY sports board of coaches is made up of nine head coaches at NCAA Division III institutions who are all members of the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA).

Saint Mary’s holds down the top spot in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference standings with a 9-1 league mark. The Cardinals begin the second half of the conference schedule at 7:30 on Wednesday with a home game against Bethel — the lone team to beat them this season.
