It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of Taylor Richmond, son of long-time Saint Mary’s staff member Nikki Richmond and Nick Richmond, on Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013.
Taylor has been an extended member of the Saint Mary’s family throughout his life. Though diagnosed with the rare and fatal disease of Ataxia Telangiectasia at a young age, Taylor didn’t let the disease define him. Taylor’s strong sense of humor, his positive spirit and his strong faith have inspired countless lives.
The Saint Mary’s Taylor Richmond Benefit was named in his honor. Taylor was its first beneficiary in 2001, and the annual event has continued as a way for students to help someone within the Saint Mary’s community in need.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, at Saint Thomas More Chapel on Saint Mary’s Winona campus. Visitation will be from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, also at the Chapel, where there will be a 6 p.m. prayer service. Visitation will also be one hour prior to services Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to one of the following: Team 25 — the Sjhon Podein Children’s Foundation; the A-T Children’s Project; or Saint Mary’s University in memory of Taylor Richmond.
Those interested in being a part of the liturgical choir for this funeral are asked to contact Eric Styles in the SMU Office of Campus Ministry.
We ask that you keep Taylor’s family in your prayers during this difficult time.
