As part of the university’s continuing efforts to increase its visibility and develop relationships with key stakeholders, Brother William has appointed Scott McMahon as associate vice president for external relations and executive director of the Hendrickson Institute for Ethical Leadership. In his role as AVP, McMahon will, in part, be responsible for community relations initiatives and key partnerships for the Schools of Graduate and Professional Programs, relations with Minnesota and Twin Cities-area municipal authorities, and federal and state government and corporate relations initiatives. He will also assist the vice president for SGPP with the Council of Regents.
In his role as executive director of the Hendrickson Institute, McMahon will direct the overall activities of the institute including the annual Hendrickson Forum, the prestigious group of Hendrickson Fellows, the advisory board of the institute, the curricular and co-curricular footprint of the institute, and the Under-Told Stories Project.
McMahon comes to Saint Mary’s from the Minnesota Private College Council where he served as director of government relations and community affairs. He holds a Master of Public Policy degree from the Humphrey School of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota, and a Master of Nonprofit Administration degree from the Mendoza College of Business at the University of Notre Dame. McMahon assumed his new responsibilities on July 8.
